Risk of eating disorders in girls and young women with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit riziko poruch příjmu potravy u dívek a mladých žen s diabetem mellitem. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit, jestli existuje rozdíl ve výskytu rizika poruchy příjmu potravy mezi dívkami a mladými ženami s diabetem mellitem a bez tohoto onemocnění. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 106 dívek a mladých žen s onemocněním diabetes mellitus v odborných ambulancích a 124 dívek a mladých žen bez tohoto onemocnění navštěvující vzdělávací instituci. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo formou kvantitativního výzkumu prostřednictvím standardizovaných dotazníků. K posouzení rizika poruch příjmu potravy byly použity tyto dotazníky: SEEDS, DEPS - R a EAT - 26. Jako dalším nástroj k posouzení míry sebehodnocení byla použita Rosenbergerova škála sebehodnocení. K vyhodnocení testů byl použit chí-kvadrát test, Spearmanův korelační koeficient a další. Výsledky: Ze získaných výsledků vyplývá, že u celkového souboru nachází 17 % respondentek ve vysokém riziku poruch příjmu potravy. U diabetické populace se ve vysokém riziku nachází kritických 86 % dívek a mladých žen. U nediabetické populace se nachází 17 % respondentek ve vysokém riziku poruch příjmu potravy. V neposlední řadě byl u obou skupin prokázán vliv nízkého sebehodnocení na vznik rizika poruch příjmu potravy. Závěr: Již u dívek ve věku 15 let se potýkáme se vznikem rizika poruch příjmu potravy, proto je důležité se zaměřit na včasný záchyt prvotních příznaků tohoto onemocnění. Nemoc není výjimkou ani u diabetické populace. Dívky a mladé ženy, které trpí nízkým sebevědomím, mají větší riziko vzniku poruch příjmu potravy. Abstract:

Aims: The aim of this thesis was the risk of eating disorders in girls and young women with diabetes mellitus. Another possible risk is that it is possible that there is a risk of eating disorders among girls and young women with and without diabetes mellitus. Methods: The research group consisted of 106 girls and young women with diabetes mellitus in professional outpatient clinics and 124 girls and young women without this disease attending educational institutions. The research was expected in the form of quantitative research using standardized questionnaires. The following questionnaires were used to assess the risk of eating disorders: SEEDS, DEPS - R and EAT - 26. The Rosenberger self-assessment scale was used as another tool to assess the degree of self-esteem. The chi-square test, Spearman's correlation coefficient and others were used to evaluate the tests. Results: From the results we can find that in the sample you can find 17 % of respondents at high risk of eating disorders. 86 % of girls and young women. In the non-diabetic population, 17 % of respondents are at high risk of eating disorders. Last but not least, both groups demonstrated the effect of low self-esteem on the risk of eating disorders. Conclusion: You are already looking at the age of 15 before you think there is a risk of eating disorders, so it is important to focus on early detection of the first symptoms of the disease. The disease is not bad even in diabetic population. Girls and young women suffering from low self-esteem are at greater risk of experiencing eating disorders.
