The influence of incomplete families on building relationships in young adulthood

Abstract:

Výzkumným problémem této bakalářská práce je vliv neúplných rodin na utváření vztahů v mladé dospělosti. V praktické části bylo využito kvantitativně orientovaného výzkumu. Jako metoda sběru dat byl použit dotazník vlastní konstrukce a data byla sbírána online. Většina respondentů byla pravděpodobně tvořena studenty vysokých škol, jelikož dotazník byl sdílen ve skupinách určených pro tyto studenty. Otázky byly ve většině případů uzavřené, aby bylo možno odpovědi kvantifikovat. První část dotazníku se zaměřovala na věk, pohlaví respondenta a to, z jaké rodiny pochází. Tyto otázky byly z většiny polouzavřené a zbytek otázek byl uzavřený a týkající se romantických vztahů a postojů k nim. Respondentů bylo 112 ve věku 18-26 let. Ti byli následně rozděleni na základě pohlaví a toho, z jaké rodiny pocházeli. Cílem tohoto výzkumu bylo blíže zkoumat, jakým způsobem má neúplnost rodin vliv na utváření romantických vztahů mladých dospělých. Sebraná data byla nejprve popsána a následně byly hypotézy ověřovány za pomocí Pearsonova Chí-kvadrát testu. Výzkumem se potvrdilo, že jedinci z rodin jiných než úplných, mají ve svých romantických vztazích častěji problémy s důvěrou, trpí více vztahovou úzkostí, častěji se u nich vyskytuje strach ze samoty, pociťují, že jejich rodinné zázemí ovlivnilo jejich vztahy, obávají se toho, že dopadnou jako rodiče a snaží se toho aktivně vyvarovat. V těchto parametrech se signifikantně lišili od skupiny z úplných rodin. Naopak se nijak nepotvrdilo, že by rodinné zázemí ovlivňovalo navazování romantických vztahů, mělo vliv na snížené sebehodnocení a zvýšenou sebekritičnost, že by jedinci měli problém s požadavky, jež na ně klade partnerství nebo to, že by častěji ve vztahu vyhledávali věci, s kterými jsou nespokojeni.

Abstract:

The main research problem of this bachelor thesis is the influence of incomplete families on the forming of relationships in young adulthood. In the practical part, quantitatively oriented research was used. A self-constructed survey questionnaire was used as a data collection method and data was collected online. The majority of respondents were probably university students as the questionnaire was shared in groups designed for these students. The questions were closed-ended in majority of the cases so that the responses could be quantified. The first part of the questionnaire focused on the age, gender of the respondent and what family they came from. These questions were semi-closed for the most part and the rest of the questions were closed-ended and related to romantic relationships and related attitudes. There were 112 respondents aged 18-26 years. These were then categorized based on gender and what family they came from. The purpose of this research was to further explore how incomplete families affect the formation of young adults' romantic relationships. The data collected was first described and then the hypotheses were tested using Pearson's Chi-Square test. The research confirmed that individuals from non-complete families are more likely to have trust issues in their romantic relationships, suffer more relationship anxiety, are more likely to have a fear of loneliness, feel that their family background has affected their relationships, worry about ending up like their parents, and actively try to avoid it. On these parameters, they were significantly different from the group from intact families. In contrast, there was no evidence that family background influenced the formation of romantic relationships, had an effect on lowered self-esteem and increased self-criticism, that individuals had problems with the requirements that partnerships placed on them, or that they were more likely to look for things in a relationship that they were dissatisfied with.
