Evaluation of public areas of the street network in the center of Pilsen

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá kvalitou veřejného prostoru uliční sítě v centru Plzně. Ulice jsou rozděleny do různých typů uličních profilů, jejichž typologie vychází z analýzy literatury. Tyto typy uličních profilů jsou vytvořeny pouze pro vybrané území. Vybraná oblast zahrnuje čtyři urbanistické obvody v centru města Plzně. Jsou to urbanistické obvody čísla 001, 003, 004, 005, které má město Plzeň již vymezené. Kvalita veřejného prostoru uliční sítě je dána výskytem městského mobiliáře, soukromého mobiliáře a městské zeleně. Kvalitní úseky jsou zobrazeny ve schématické mapě. Diplomová práce se zabývá konektivitou uliční sítě a konektivitou kvalitních úseků uliční sítě. Práce hodnotí vzájemné propojení uliční sítě, která je odvozena od gama indexu spojitosti a indexu silničního připojení. Nejkvalitnější úseky uliční sítě se nacházejí vně historického centra a v jeho okolí. Jejich výskyt je převážně v okolí městské zeleně. Ulice v hodnoceném území jsou celkově uspokojivě propojené. Největšími bariérami jsou hlavní silnice a budovy.

Abstract:

The streets are divided into different types of street profiles whose typology is based on literature analysis. These types of street profiles are created only for the selected territory. The selected area includes of four urban districts in the center of Pilsen. These are the urban districts of the number 001, 003, 004, 005, which the city of Pilsen has already defined. The quality of the public street network space is identify by public furniture, private furniture and urban green. Quality sections are shown in a schematic map. This thesis deals with connectivity of street network and connectivity of high-quality sections of street network. This thesis evaluates the connection of the street network, which is derived from the gamma index of continuity and the road connection index. The best sections of the street network are located inside and around the historic center. Their occurrence is predominantly in the vicinity of urban green. The streets in the evaluated area are generally satisfactorily connected. The major barriers are major roads and buildings.
