Burnout syndrome among nurses working in surgical departments

Abstract:

Úvod: Bakalářská práce "Syndrom vyhoření u sester pracujících na chirurgických odděleních," je členěna do dvou částí, a to teoretické a empirické. V teoretické části jsou charakterizovány základní oblasti zkoumané problematiky syndromu vyhoření, prevence a specifika práce zdravotních sester. Empirická část se zabývá zhodnocením, ohroženosti sester syndromem vyhoření. Cíl práce: Hlavním cílem bylo zhodnotit, jaká je míra ohrožení syndromem vyhoření u zdravotních sester na chirurgických odděleních Krajské zdravotní, a.s. - Masarykově nemocnici v Ústí nad Labem, o. z. Metodika: Základní metodikou průzkumu bylo anonymní dotazníkové šetření, kde byl použit standardizovaný dotazník MBI doplněn o vlastní otázky zaměřené na podrobnější charakteristiku respondentů. Výsledky: Samotný výsledek šetření poukázal na výskyt syndromu vyhoření u jednotlivých chirurgických oddělení, na její četnost a na důležitost včasné prevence syndromu vyhoření. Z výsledků výzkumu bylo prokázáno, že četnost výskytu syndromu vyhoření, je na jednotlivých odděleních odlišná, a to ve spojitosti se směnným provozem. Jeden z dílčích cílů této práce, také poukázal na nutnost větší osvěty prevence syndromu vyhoření ze strany zaměstnavatele. Závěr: Tato bakalářská práce se zabývala aspekty syndromu vyhoření, prevencí a doporučením pro prevenci. Z této práce také vzešlo doporučení pro zaměstnavatele, aby se více orientoval na přání svých zaměstnanců související s prevencí syndromu vyhoření. Také doporučením pro zdravotní sestry z chirurgických oddělení Mn ÚL, zaměřit se na posílení mezilidských vztahů na pracovišti i v osobním životě. Více se orientovat na prevenci syndromu vyhoření a věnovat se aktivitám, které dokáží vyčistit mysl a posílí zdravý životní styl.

Abstract:

Introduction: The bachelor's thesis "Burnout syndrome in nurses working in surgical departments" is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. In the theoretical part, the basic areas of the investigated issue of burnout syndrome, prevention and the specifics of the work of nurses are characterized. The empirical part deals with the assessment of nurses' vulnerability to burnout syndrome. Objective of the work: The main objective was to assess the degree of risk of burnout among nurses in the surgical departments of Krajská zdravotni, a.s. - Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem, o. z. Methodology: The basic methodology of the survey was an anonymous questionnaire survey, where a standardized MBI questionnaire was used supplemented with its own questions aimed at more detailed characteristics of the respondents. Results: The result of the investigation itself pointed to the occurrence of burnout syndrome in individual surgical departments, its frequency and the importance of timely prevention of burnout syndrome. The results of the research showed that the frequency of occurrence of burnout syndrome is different in individual departments in connection with shift work. One of the sub-goals of this work also pointed out the need for greater awareness of the prevention of burnout syndrome on the part of the employer. Conclusion: This bachelor's thesis dealt with aspects of burnout syndrome, prevention and recommendations for prevention. This work also resulted in a recommendation for employers to focus more on the wishes of their employees, related to the prevention of burnout. Also a recommendation for nurses from the surgical department of Krajská zdravotni, a.s. - Masaryk Hospital in Ústí nad Labem, o. z., to focus on strengthening interpersonal relationships at the workplace and in personal life. Focus more on preventing burnout and engage in activities that can clear the mind and strengthen a healthy lifestyle.
