Práce se zabývá teorií optimálních měnových oblastí a její aplikací v případě Hospodářské a měnové unie EU. Práce se nejdříve věnuje historickému vývoji, který předcházel vzniku samotné měnové unie. Goal of this diploma thesis is to describe the concept of optimum currency areas and its application on Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union. Theoretical part is focused on brief description of the steps which led to creation of the EMU as well as on defining the principles and criteria behind the optimum currency areas theory.
