Analysis of the possibilities of self-education of seniors on the subject of financial literacy

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou sebevzdělávání seniorů v oblasti finanční gramotnosti. V teoretické části je popsán proces stárnutí a význam gerontopedagogiky ve smyslu motivace a možných překážek v dalším vzděláváním seniorů. Dále je uveden výčet institucí určených ke vzdělávání a prevenci nežádoucích jevů spojených se stárnutím (univerzity třetího věku, kluby seniorů a jiné). Finanční gramotnost je zasazena do funkční gramotnosti a gramotnosti jako takové. Jsou popsány některé finanční změny a s tím případné problémy. V další části je vymezen vztah mezi sebevzděláváním a sebevýchovou a následně analyzovány některé dostupné zdroje pro sebevzdělávání seniorů k tématu finanční gramotnosti. Empirická část se zabývá analýzou získaných dat z dotazníku a následnou interpretací. Dotazník se zaměřuje na informovanost, postoje a možné překážky k sebevzdělávání seniorů ve finanční gramotnosti. Z výsledků jsou odvozeny závěry, ze kterých jsou formulovány odpovědi na výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of self-education among seniors in the field of financial literacy. The theoretical part describes the process of aging and the significance of gerontopedagogy in terms of motivation and potential barriers to further education for seniors. It also includes an overview of institutions dedicated to education and the prevention of undesirable phenomena associated with aging (such as universities of the third age, senior clubs, and others). Financial literacy is contextualized within functional literacy and literacy in general. Some financial changes and related potential problems are discussed. The subsequent section explores the relationship between self-education and self-discipline, followed by a list of available resources for seniors' self-education on financial literacy. The empirical part deals with the analysis of data obtained from a questionnaire and its subsequent interpretation. The questionnaire focuses on the awareness, attitudes, and possible barriers to self-education in financial literacy among seniors. The findings are used to draw conclusions and formulate answers to the research questions.
