Occupational therapy in the treatment of schizophrenia

Abstract:

Úvod Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou závažného psychiatrického onemocnění - schizofrenie, popisuje účel zvoleného tématu a rozvržení bakalářské práce. Cíl práce Cílem práce je utřídění teoretických poznatků, popsání problematiky schizofrenie, přiblížení možností ergoterapie u osob se schizofrenií a vypracování kazuistiky pacienta se schizofrenním onemocněním. Metodika Tato práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část je zaměřena na schizofrenii. Popisuje epidemiologii, etiologii a patogenezi schizofrenie. Dále její průběh, příznaky, diagnostiku a léčbu. Praktická část se skládá z kazuistiky klienta a testů, které jsem použila na vstupní a výstupní vyšetření: MoCA (Montrealský kognitivní test), ACE-R (Addenbrookský kognitivní test), BI (Barthel index) a COPM (Kanadské hodnocení výkonu zaměstnávání). Praktická část dále obsahuje krátkodobý ergoterapeutický plán, realizování intervence s klientem a dlouhodobý ergoterapeutický plán. Výsledky Porovnání vstupního a výstupního ergoterapeutického vyšetření a zhodnocení ergoterapeutických intervencí. Diskuze a závěr Zhodnocení ergoterapeutických přístupů u pacientů se schizofrenním onemocněním. Vyhodnocení práce s klientem a přínosu bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

Introduction The bachelor's thesis deals with the subject of schizophrenia. The Introduction describes the purpose and the layout of the thesis. Goals The thesis aims to provide a theoretical background of schizophrenia and introduce the facts and figures concerning this psychiatric illness. Another aim is to describe the options of occupational therapy in individuals suffering from schizophrenia and write a case study of a patient diagnosed with schizophrenic mental disorder. Methodology The thesis has been divided into two parts, i.e. theory and research. The theoretical part focuses on schizophrenia, describing its epidemiology, etiology and pathogenesis, as well as the course of the disease, the symptoms, diagnostics and treatment. The research part includes a case study and the tests used in the initial and final examinations: MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment), ACE-R (Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination Revised), BI (Barthel Index), and COPM (Canadian Occupational Performance Measure). The research part also features a short-term occupational therapy plan, the intervention the client received and a long-term occupational therapy plan. Results The comparison of the initial and final occupational therapy examinations and assessment of occupational therapy interventions. Discussion and Conclusion The evaluation of the occupational therapy approach in patients suffering from schizophrenia, including the assessment of the work with the client and the benefits of the bachelor's thesis.
