Morphokinetic variability of human embryos at the early stage of cell division in case of women with impaired fertility according to their BMI

Abstract:

Předložená retrospektivní studie posuzuje vliv BMI (Body Mass Index) na výsledky načasování dělení embryí u pacientek léčených v Centru asistované reprodukce Sanus Pardubice. Soubor pacientek byl rozdělen podle hodnot BMI do šesti skupin a byl u nich analyzován přesný čas dělení daných morfokinetických ukazatelů embryí. Monitorování embryí bylo provedeno pomocí kontinuálního time-lapse systému Primo Vision. Do souboru bylo zařazeno celkem 815 embryí od 145 pacientek průměrného věku 32,2 let. Signifikantní rozdíly ve věku, počtu získaných oocytů, počtu oocytů v metafázi II a fertilizovaných oocytů v závislosti na hodnotách BMI oproti kontrolní skupině BMI s normální váhou nebyly prokázány. Výsledky prokázaly delší načasování buněčného dělení u embryí pacientek s nadváhou, obezitou a podvýživou ve srovnání s pacientkami s normální hmotností. V práci je uveden ucelený pohled na danou tématiku s přehledem a porovnáním aktuálních studií.

Abstract:

Presented retrospective studies assess the effect of BMI (Body Mass Index) on timing results of embryo cleavage at patients treated in the Centre of Assisted Reproduction Sanus Pardubice. A unit of patients was divided into six groups according to their BMI and the exact time of division was analysed at given morphokinetic embryo markers. Monitoring of embryos was performed by using continuous time-lapse system Primo Vision. In total, 815 embryos from 145 patients were included in this study, the average age of patients was 32,2 years. No significant differences have been shown in number of oocytes retrieved, number of oocytes in metaphase II, age and fertilized oocytes depending on their BMI levels, in comparison with the reference group of BMI with normal weight. Results showed longer timing of cell division at embryos of patients with overweight, obesity and underweight compared with patients who have normal weight. The thesis indicates a comprehensive summary on the topic including an overview and a comparison of current studies.
