Reduction of abstraction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá abstraktními a reduktivními tendencemi v oblasti malby. Těžištěm a zároveň praktickým výstupem práce je soubor obrazů a grafik, založený na funkci a tematizaci esenciálních malířských znaků a principů - jak účelných, tak bezděčných. Abstraktní, nezobrazující forma díla je zde spjata především s konstrukčními prvky média. Představené dílo lze chápat jako součást dlouhodobého zájmu o formální stránku umělecké tvorby a s ním spojenou autorskou praxi. Teoretická část má povahu doprovodného textu, vysvětlující myšlenkové předpoklady práce. Dále také interpretuje předložený praktický celek z pozice autora a uvádí jej do kontextu současného výtvarného umění.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with abstract and reductive tendencies in visual art. The focus and concurrently the practical outcome of the thesis consists of series of paintings and graphic art. These paintings are based on essential principals of art - both functional and instinctive. Abstract form of artwork refers mainly to structural composition of used medium. The presented collection can be seen as part of a long-term interest in formal aspects of art along with the associated artistic practice. The theoretical part is accompanying text explaining the ideas and presenting the concepts of practical result as seen by the author. It also presents the work in the context of contemporary art.
