The diploma thesis deals with characteristics of chocolate since its beginnings until today. The aim of the thesis is to describe the evolution of the image of chocolate in gastronomy until present time, focusing on the definition of its contemporary form, the means of use and demand for chocolate products. Diplomová práca sa zaoberá charakteristikou čokolády od jej vzniku po súčasnosť. Cieľom práce je identifikovať vývoj podoby čokolády v gastronómii až do súčasnosti, pričom kladie dôraz predovšetkým na definíciu jej súčasnej podoby, spôsobu využitia a dopytu po týchto produktoch.
