The problems of succession in family firm

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjistit, zda se majitel rodinného podniku v rámci plánování generační obměny rozhodoval racionálně, nebo jednal zcela na základě svých individuálních představ a také zjistit, kdo se má stát následníkem, kdy začít s plánováním následnictví a jakým způsobem přistoupí k samotné výměně generací. V teoretické části se práce opírá o důležitost rodinného podnikání v České republice i ve světě, o jeho pozitivní a negativní stránky a o celý proces plánování následnictví i s jeho nejčastějšími bariérami. Pro výzkum byla použita kvalitativní metodologie a nástrojem výzkumu byla případová studie. Posuzovali jsme, zda je rozhodování o způsobu plánování a obměny generace vedeno jako racionální proces. Podařilo se nám zjistit, že tomu tak v tomto případě nebylo.

Abstract:

The objective of this thesis is to find out whether the family business owner decided rationally in the planning of generational replacement, or if he acted completely on his individual ideas as well as who is to become the successor, to when to start succession planning and how to proceed to the actual generations’ exchange. In the theoretical part the thesis is based on the importace of family business in the Czech Republic and abroad, its positive and negative aspects and the whole process of succession planning with the most common barriers. Qualitative metodology was used for the research and case study was the instrument of the research. We have considered if the deciding of the way of planning and replacement generation are conducted as a rational process. We managed to find, that it is not in this case.
