The Development Policy of European Union to States of Asia

Abstract:

Záměrem diplomové práce je představit a analyzovat výsledky, přínosy a problémy rozvojové pomoci EU v Asii a Střední Asii a na základě analýzy stávajícího rámce nastínit budoucí perspektivu, určitý koncept zvyšování efektivity, této spolupráce. V diplomové práci je prezentován současný rámec rozvojové pomoci EU vůči zemím Asie a Střední Asie. Pozornost je věnována i teoretickým konceptům rozvoje při uplatňování rozvojové pomoci EU právě v tomto regionu. Hlavní část práce rozebírá motivaci EU, plnění MDGs, k nimž se EU zavázala, a stav vybraných indexů monitorujících rozvoj. Je definováno několik důležitých indikátorů zaměřených na ekonomické, sociální a politické aspekty rozvoje. Jsou rozebrány přínosy i zásadní problémy systému poskytování rozvojové pomoci EU v těchto regionech, jsou zmíněny i další nástroje EU, které mají vliv na rozvoj. Na závěr práce je nastíněn i budoucí koncept vedoucí ke zlepšení a zefektivnění rozvojové pomoci EU zemím Asie a Střední Asie.

Abstract:

The intention of the thesis is to present and analyze the results, benefits and challenges of EU development assistance in Asia and Central Asia. The current framework of EU development assistance to countries in Asia and Central Asia is presented in the thesis. The theoretical concepts of development are mentioned also in the application of EU development assistance in this region. The main part of the thesis analyzes the motivation of the EU, fulfillment of the MDGs to which the EU is committed and the status of selected indices monitoring development. Several important indicators are defined, which are focused on economic, social and political aspects of development. The benefits and key issues of EU development aid in Asia and Central Asia are discussed. Other EU instruments are referred, which have an impact on development. Future concept to improve and streamline the EU development assistance to Asian countries is outlined at the conclusion of the thesis.
