Rewards and punishments through the eyes of primary school pupils

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na odměny a tresty ve výuce, jak je vnímají žáci druhého stupně základní školy. Cílem práce je hlubší proniknutí do této problematiky na základě spojení teoretických poznatků a výsledků empirického výzkumu. Teoretická část se zabývá charakteristikou odměn a trestů, pojednává o odměnách a trestech jako regulátorech chování, jejich jednotlivých druzích a vlivu odměn a trestů na žáka. Věnuje se důvodům pro odměňování a trestání zahrnujících motivaci a školní kázeň včetně projevů a příčin školní nekázně spolu s kázeňskými prostředky. Zaměřuje se také na odměny a tresty jako součást vztahu učitele a žáka, seznamuje s jejich vzájemnou komunikací, autoritou učitele a vlivem klimatu třídy, na kterém se podílí právě sami žáci i vyučující. Empirická část si klade za cíl zjistit, jak jsou odměny a tresty vnímány žáky druhého stupně základní školy, jaké druhy odměn a trestů se ve škole vyskytují, jaká je jejich četnost a jsou-li odměny a tresty pro žáky motivací. Současně je zjišťováno vnímání spravedlnosti v důsledku odměňování a trestání a souvislost odměn a trestů s oblibou učitele nebo učitelovou autoritou. Výsledky výzkumného šetření jsou zpracovány a vyhodnoceny.

Abstract:

The master thesis focuses on rewards and punishments in education as perceived by pupils at upper primary school. The aim of the thesis is deeper insight into this issue based on the combination of theoretical knowledge and the results of empirical research. Theoretical part deals with the characteristics of rewards and punishments, discusses the rewards and punishments as regulators of behaviour, their different types and their impact on pupil. It deals with the reasons for rewarding and punishing involving motivation and school discipline, including manifestations and causes of school indiscipline with school disciplinary resources. It also focuses on rewards and punishments as a part of the relationship between teacher and pupil, their communication, deals with the autority of the teacher and influence of classe climate. The empirical part finds out pupils perception of rewards and punishments, what kinds of rewards and punishments occur at school, what is their frequency and whether they are motivating for pupils. Also it focuses on the perception of fairness in rewarding and punishing, the teacher´s popularity and authority. The results of the survey are compiled and evaluated.
