The Language of Immigrants in Italy

Abstract:

The main substance of this master’s thesis is elaboration and evaluation of questionnaires which therefore form a fundamental pillar of the survey. Within the framework of the research, there were ten immigrants to be inquired, five of whom were men and five women, who nowadays work or study in Naples. The questionnaires were set up in order to achieve as effective confrontation of the linguistic proficiency of Italian as the second language as possible, but also the confrontation of individual approach towards the acquisition of Italian and towards the Italian culture in general. Thus, there is also a narrative part of the questionnaires that allows to analyse morphological, syntactic and lexicological skills of the participants. Last but not least, an application of the recently obtained results to Krashen’s Second Language Acquisition theory was included as well.

Abstract:

Podstatou této diplomové práce je zpracování a vyhodnocení dotazníků, které tak představují základní pilíř rešerše. V rámci studie bylo dotázáno celkem deset imigrantů, z nichž pět mužů a pět žen, kteří aktuálně pracují či studují v Neapoli. Dotazníky byly vypracovány za účelem co nejefektivnější konfrontace lingvistických dispozic v italštině, coby druhého jazyka, ale i konfrontace individuálního přístupu k osvojování italštiny a k italské kultuře obecně. Součástí dotazníků je proto i narativní část, která slouží k analýze morfologických, syntaktických a lexikálních znalostí respondentů. V neposlední řadě je do práce zahrnuta taktéž aplikace dosažených výsledků na Krashenovu teorii osvojování cizího jazyka.
