Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá anglicky psanými komentáři videí na serveru YouTube. Analyzuje jejich jazyk s ohledem na jeho specifické kontexty a zaměřuje se především na ty z jeho formálních rysů, které jsou charakteristické pro jazyk Internetu obecně. Ty zahrnují akronymy, emotikony, citoslovce smíchu a varianty psaní osobních zájmen. Teoretická část zkoumá kontexty jazyka komentářů. Definuje a klasifikuje druhy počítačem zprostředkované komunikace (CMC), vymezuje pozici komentářů videí v tomto systému dělení, předkládá komunikační model popisující komunikaci prostřednictvím webových stránek a definuje povahu komentářů jako konkrétního typu CMC. Jádrem praktické části je jazyková analýza vybraných jevů a jejich popis. V jejím úvodu je popsána použitá metodologie a způsob vytváření korpusu komentářů. Tato sekce je následována vlastní analýzou a souhrnnou diskusí jejich výsledků.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with YouTube video comments. It analyzes their language with regard to its specific contexts and focuses primarily on those of its formal features which are characteristic of Internet language in general. The features under investigation include acronyms, emoticons, laughter variants and spelling variants of personal pronouns. The theoretical part explores the contexts of the language found in the comments. It defines and classifies computer-mediated communication (CMC), determines the position of YouTube video comments within this classification system, introduces a communication model describing Web site mediated communication, and defines the nature of video comments as a concrete type of CMC. The centre of the practical part is a linguistic analysis of the selected linguistic features, and their description. In its introductory section the methodology and the procedure of creating a corpus of comments are described. This section is followed by the actual analysis of the corpus, the results of which are summarized and discussed in the concluding section.
