Traditional versus new national minorities in the Czech republic

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zmapovat pohled majoritní společnosti na národnostní menšiny v ČR a vytvořit srovnání jednotlivých menšin se zaměřením na tradiční a nové národnostní menšiny, jejich zařazení do společnosti, pohled na odlišnost kultur a původu. Součástí je identifikace projevů xenofobie či rasismu vůči konkrétním skupinám a případné požadavky na změny pro zlepšení jejich postavení ve společnosti. Teoretická východiska se zaměřují na problematiku multikulturality, globalizace a migrace. Vymezují problematiku národnostních menšin v ČR, legislativní ukotvení jejich práv a sociologický pohled na jejich zařazení do společnosti. Praktická část prezentuje výsledky dotazníkového šetření. Na základě zjištěných závěrů jsou formulovány doporučení pro efektivnější inkluzi a soulad národnostních menšin s majoritní společností v ČR.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to map the majority society's view of national minorities in the Czech Republic and to create a comparison of individual minorities with a focus on traditional and new national minorities, their inclusion in society, and their view on the difference of cultures and origins. This includes the identification of manifestations of xenophobia or racism towards specific groups and possible demands for changes to improve their position in society. The theoretical background focuses on issues of multiculturalism, globalization and migration. They define the issue of national minorities in the Czech Republic, the legislative anchorage of their rights and a sociological view of their inclusion in society. The practical part presents the results of the questionnaire survey. On the basis of the findings, recommendations for more effective assimilation and harmony of national minorities with the majority society in the Czech Republic are formulated.
