The impact of the drug issue in Colombia and Mexico on international relations

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje drogové problematice v Kolumbii a Mexiku. Země Střední a Jižní Ameriky jsou klíčovými hráči v kontextu globálního boje proti obchodu s drogami. Jsou prostorem, kde často dochází ke komplexním problémům spojených s produkcí, distribucí drog a obchodem s drogami. Tento problém ovlivňuje společnost, jako takovou, ale samozřejmě i politiku či ekonomiku. Potíže s drogami zasahují nejen domácí situaci ve vybraných, výše uvedených, zemích, ale přetváří také vztahy se zeměmi na mezinárodní scéně. Výsledkem práce je zjištění, zda má drogová problematika v Kolumbii a Mexiku vliv na mezinárodní vztahy, a to zejména v případě dvou vybraných aktérů – USA a Evropské unie, jakožto největších odbytišť drog z uvedených zemí.

Abstract:

The bachelor's dissertation focuses on the drug issue in Colombia and Mexico. Central and South American countries are key players in the context of the global war against drug trafficking. They are an area where complex problems related to drug production, distribution and trafficking often occur. This problem has an impact on society as a whole, but of course also on politics or economics. The drug problem not only affects the domestic situation in the selected countries mentioned above, but also transforms relations with countries on the international stage. As a result, the dissertation seeks to determine whether the drug problem in Colombia and Mexico has an impact on international relations, especially in the case of two selected actors - the United States and the European Union, as the largest drug outlets from the countries mentioned above.
