From the Literary Text to the Cinema: Jean-Philippe Toussaint

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the issue of the difference between the novel "Camera" and film’s adaptation of this novel by "La Sévillane" composed by the Belgian author and director Jean-Philippe Toussaint. In first theoretical part of the thesis is described the structural and neoformalist analysis, on which are based concrete analyzes in the practical part. The second part deals with the author, his biography and his work. In the third part, the book "Camera" is compared to the movie "La Sévillane" on narrative and stylistic level and the final part attempts to explain the reasons for several differences that occurred during their comparison.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska diplomová práca sa zaoberá problematikou rozdielu medzi románom Fotoaparát a jeho filmovou adaptáciou La Sévillane od belgického autora a režiséra Jean-Philippe Toussainta. V prvej teoretickej časti práce je popísaná štrukturalistická a neoformalistická analýza, z ktorých vychádzajú už konkrétne analýzy v praktickej časti. Druhá časť práce sa venuje autorovi, jeho biografii a dielu. V tretej časti je kniha Fotoaparát porovnávaná s filmom La Sévillane na naratívnej a štylistickej úrovni a záverečná časť sa pokúša vysvetliť dôvody viacerých rozdielov, ktoré sa vyskytli v priebehu ich porovnávania.
