Ways of managing the care of a mentally handicapped child

Abstract:

Ve své práci se věnuji tématu způsoby zvládání péče o mentálně postižené dítě. Cílem práce a výzkumu bylo odhalení způsobů, jakými se matka vyrovnává se stresem, jaké jsou dopady na kvalitu života matky a jakým stresovým situacím j e matka vystavena. Jako výzkumný vzorek byly vybrány tři matky splňující požadavky pro výzkum. Šetření a analýza, ukázaly shodné výsledky týkající se kvality života matky a zvýšené míry stresu zapříčiněné péčí o mentálně postižené dítě s výzkumy jiných badatelů. Díky přímému rozhovoru s matkami jsou výsledky detailnější a poukazují na celou problematiku tedy celkový stresový nápor na matky a jejich celkovou kvalitu života. Mezi stěžejní výsledek výzkumu jsou zjištěné způsoby zvládání stresu při péči, které jsou u všech tří matek velmi podobné. Dalšími výsledky odhalují pozitivní i negativní dopady péče a kvalitu života matky, kdy mezi pozitivní dopad považujeme jakýsi zisk, které matky díky péči získaly například zkušenosti nebo jiný pohled na životní situace. Negativním dopadem se rozumí například finance nebo nemožnost kariérního růstu.

Abstract:

In my work, I focus on the topic of coping with care for a mentally handicapped child. The aim of the work and research was to reveal the ways in which the mothe r copes with stress, what are the impacts on the mother's quality of life and what stressful situations the mother is exposed to. Three mothers meeting the requirements for research were selected as a research sample. The survey and analysis showed consis tent results regarding the mother's quality of life and the increased levels of stress caused by caring for a mentally disabled child with research by other researchers. Thanks to a direct conversation with mothers, the results are more detailed and point to the whole issue, i.e. the overall stress on mothers and their overall quality of life. Among the key results of the research are the identified ways of managing stress during care, which are very similar in all three mothers. Other results reveal both positive and negative impacts of care and the quality of life of the mother, where among the positive impact we consider a kind of profit, which mothers have gained thanks to care, for example, experience or a different view of life situations. A negative i mpact is understood, for example, finances or the impossibility of career growth.
