Social support and its meaning for mothers on parental leave

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá sociální oporou a jejím významem pro matky na rodičovské dovolené. Sociální opora má kladný vliv na psychickou pohodu matky, na její fyzický stav, na kvalitu jejího života, zvyšování její odolnosti vůči stresu, posilování její self-efficacy a pomoc při zvládání negativních životních situací a událostí. Cílem studie bylo zjistit, zda se matky na rodičovské dovolené liší v hodnocení úrovně poskytované sociální opory a v tom, koho považují za nejdůležitějšího poskytovatele sociální opory s ohledem na věk, status, počet dětí a bydliště. Data byla získaná pomocí dotazníku Social Support Questionnaire, který byl administrován 100 ženám na sociální síti. Výzkumná část této práce vychází z důkladné teoretické analýzy problematiky sociální opory a role ženy, jakožto matky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with social support and its meaning for mothers on parental leave. Social support has a positive influence on the psychological well-being of mothers, their physical conditions, the quality of their lives, increasing their resistance to stress, strengthening their self-efficacy, and helping them manage negative life situations and events. The aim of the study was to find out whether mothers on parental leave have different opinions on the social support which is provided to them, and who they consider as the most important provider of the social support depending on their age, status, number of children and place of residence. The data was obtained through the Social Support Questionnaire, which was administrated to one hundred women on a social network. The research part of this thesis is based on a thorough theoretical analysis of the issue of social support and the role of women as mothers.
