Intercultural learning in multicultural organisations from the perspective of foreign employees in global IT companies

Anotácia:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá tématem interkulturního učení v multikulturních organizacích. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část práce vymezuje hlavní pojmy spojené s interkulturním učením a multikulturními organizacemi v celospolečenských souvislostech. Respondenty pro tento výzkum byli zaměstnanci cizinci v globálních IT firmách. Empirická část představuje výsledky kvalitativního výzkumu, které ukázaly interkulturní učení v multikulturních organizacích jako postupný proces s na sebe navazujícími fázemi ovlivněné rozličnými faktory. Nejdůležitějším zdrojem interkulturního učení je interakce. Organizace je v tomto procesu důležitým hybatelem interakce a tím pádem i učení.

Abstract:

This master's thesis deals with the topic of intercultural learning in multicultural organizations. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part of the work defines the main terms associated with intercultural learning and multicultural organizations in the context of society as a whole. The respondents for this research were immigrant employees in global IT firms. The empirical part presents the results of qualitative research, which showed intercultural learning in multicultural organizations as a gradual process with successive phases influenced by various factors. The most important source of intercultural learning is interaction. Organization is an important driver of interaction and thus learning in this process.
