Integration of Greek refugees into the majority society

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je integrace řeckých uprchlíků do majoritní společnosti. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na analýzu integračního procesu řeckých uprchlíků do české společnosti z pohledu majority. V první části se zabýváme problematikou uprchlictví, srovnáváme přístup k uprchlíkům z hlediska mezinárodních a vnitrostátních právních předpisů a analyzujeme samotný pojem integrace včetně jednotlivých dimenzí integrace. V další části uvádíme charakteristiku skupiny řeckých uprchlíků včetně deskripce integrace této skupiny do československé respektive české společnosti. Praktická část zkoumá, jak řečtí příslušníci subjektivně vnímají proces integrace do české společnosti a jaké jsou problematické momenty tohoto procesu. Je zde popsána metodika výzkumu a interpretace výsledků výzkumu, které jsou prokládány úryvky rozhovorů s účastníky výzkumu.

Abstract:

The theme of the thesis is the integration of refugees into the majority of Greek society. The theoretical part focuses on the analysis of the integration process of the Greek refugees in the Czech society from the perspective of the majority. In the first part deals with the problems of refugees, comparing access to refugees in terms of international and national legislation and analyze the concept of integration, including integration of various dimensions. In the next section the characteristics of the group of Greek refugees, including a description of the integration of this group in Czechoslovakia or the Czech society. The practical part examines, how Greek members subjectively perceive the process of integration into Czech society and what are the problematic moments in this process. It describes research methodology and interpretation of research results, which are interspersed with snippets of interviews with research participants.
