Research of cognitive abilities of pupils from different socio-cultural environment

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce s názvem "Výzkum kognitivních schopností žáků z odlišného sociokulturního prostředí" je porovnat kognitivní schopnosti u žáků na prvním stupni základní školy ohrožených sociálním vyloučením a u žáků reprezentující majoritu. V rámci teoretické části jsou zpracována témata vztahující se k dané problematice práce. Teoretická část se zaobírá kognitivními schopnostmi a problematikou sociální exkluze. Praktickou část tvoří výsledky šetření pomocí standardizovaného Testu kognitivních schopností - TKS (Thorndike, Hagen, 1998). Cílem výzkumného šetření je zjistit, nalézt a porovnat odlišnosti v kognitivních schopnostech u vybraných skupin respondentů. Součástí práce je diskuse zjištěných skutečností, formulace obecněji platných závěrů a doporučení pro praxi speciální pedagogiky intervence a dalších tzv. pomáhajících profesí. Pro statistické vyhodnocení dat získaných standardizovaným šetřením bylo využito příslušného typu t-testu pro komparaci aritmetických průměrů dvou nezávislých výběrů dat a analýza rozptylu ANOVA (analysis of variance).

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis called "Research of cognitive abilities of pupils from different socio-cultural environment" is to compare cognitive abilities of pupils at primary school at risk of social exclusion and pupils representing majority. Topics related to the issue of this thesis are processed in the theoretical part. The theoretical part will mainly focus on cognitive abilities and problems of social exclusion. The practical part is the results of the investigation using the standardised Cognitive Attitudes Test - TKS (Thorndike, Hagen, 1998). The research investigation aims to identify, find and compare differences in cognitive ability among selected groups of respondents. Part of the work involves discussing the facts identified, formulating more generally valid conclusions and recommendations for the practice of special pedagogy of intervention and other so-called assisting professions. For statistical evaluation of data obtained by standardized survey, the appropriate type of t-test was used to compare the arithmetic means of two independent data selections and analysis of variance ANOVA (analysis of variance).
