Abstract:
Se začátkem sekvencování genomů se rychle rozvinuly znalosti o jejich struktuře a složení. Ukázalo se, že překvapivě velkou část všech eukaryotických genomů tvoří mobilní genetické elementy (transpozony). Tyto elementy, dříve považované za zbytečné a sobecké, slouží jako velice dynamická zásobárna nových buněčných genů a funkcí. Our knowledge of the structure and composition of genomes is rapidly progressing in pace with their sequencing. The emerging data show that a significant portion of all eukaryotic genomes is composed of transposable elements (TEs).
