Analysis of managers' profile in hotels and hotel chains

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to investigate whether hotel managers meet the requirements for the profile of hotel managers. The first section of the theoretical part describes the profession of hotel manager generally and the second one specifies the hotel managers and their competencies. Managerial roles and functions are also included in this part. The aim of the analytical part is to collect new findings related to the topic. Shown in tables and graphs, data and results are interprets in analytical section as well. The data were obtained through questionnaire survey. The end of the analytical part is dedicated to verification of the set hypothesis. The research resulted into discovering deficiencies related to the manager´s relationship with their staff and effective time management. The last part of the thesis presents suggestions and solutions, focusing on effective time management and improving the relationship between managers and their staff. The contribution of this work is defining the hotel manager´s competencies, emphasizing their deficiencies and possible solutions for eliminating them in order to improve performance.

RAČEKOVÁ, Lenka Bc. Analýza profilu manažérov hotelov/hotelových reťazcov.[Diplomová práca]. Vysoká škola hotelová. Praha, 2015. Vedúci práce: doc. Ing. Petr Čech, PhD.Cieľom tejto práce je zistiť, či manažéri hotelov spĺňajú požiadavky na profil mnažérov hotelov. V teoretickej časti je popísaná profesia manažéra vo všeobecnej rovine, neskôr konkrétne profesia hotelových manažérov a ich kompetencie. Táto časť obsahuje aj manažérske role, funkcie a manažérske schopnosti. V analytickej časti je hlavným cieľom zaistiť nové poznatky vzťahujúce sa k profilu manažérov hotelov. Táto časť takisto interpretuje výsledky, zobrazené grafmi a tabuľkami. Metódou na získanie týchto dát je dotazníkové šetrenie. Záver analytickej časti je venovaný overovaniu stanovených hypotéz. Po uskutočnení výskumu boli okrem overenia hypotéz zistené aj nedostatky týkajúce sa vzťahu medzi manažérmi a ich podriadenými a efektívneho riadenia času. V návrhovej časti sú prezentované návrhy na riešenie, zamerané konkrétne na efektívne využívanie času a na zlepšenie vzťahu manažérov k podriadeným. Prínosom tejto práce je definovanie kompetencií manažérov hotelov, poukázanie na nedostatky a možné riešenia pre manažérov hotelov na ich odstránenie s cieľom lepšieho pracovného výkonu pre seba, ale aj ich podriadených.
