Investment opportunities in oil industry

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis “Investment opportunities in oil industry” is to track the investment opportunities of a retail investor in the oil industry. First part of the thesis is focused on the specification of investing in commodities and the characteristics of oil as a traded energy source. The thesis then tracks the historical development of the oil market, describes the supply and demand on the oil market and their impact on the price-setting process and analyses the current market situation. The second half is then focused on the analysis of the oil investment opportunities itself, evaluates the chosen forms of investing and formulates recommendations for a potential investor.

Abstract:

Cieľom diplomovej práce “Investície do ropy” je zmapovať možnosti retailového investora pri investovaní do ropy. Prvá časť práce sa sústredí na špecifikáciu investovania do komodít a charakteristiku ropy ako obchodnej suroviny. Práca ďalej mapuje historický vývoj na trhu s ropou, vymedzuje stranu ponuky a dopytu v ropnom segmente a ich vplyv na cenotvorný proces a analyzuje súčasnú tržnú situáciu. V druhej časti sa potom práca zameriava na samotnú analýzu možností investovania do ropy, hodnotí jednotlivé spôsoby alokácie finančných prostriedkov a v samotnom závere formuluje odporúčania pre potenciálneho investora.
