Using advanced classification methods for automatic feature extraction from maps

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na využití pokročilých metod klasifikace pro extrakci topografických objektů z map. Konkrétně se jedná o využití nástrojů pro automatické klasifikování ploch a následné transformace do vektorové podoby, která je součástí externí knihovny dostupné na oficiální stránce ArcGIS Pro. Cílem práce je vytvořit a naučit model rozpoznávat intravilány, extravilány a hranice jednotlivých ploch s co největší přesností a následně provést vektorizaci automaticky bez nutnosti manuálního zásahu uživatele. Práce je zaměřena se na Povinné císařské otisky stabilního katastru z roku 1842, v měřítku 1:2880 a zaměřuje se na využívání katastrálních ploch intravilánů a extravilánů. Data pro tvorbu deep learningového modelu jsou vytvářena a doplňována v programu ArcGIS Pro. Během práce jsou zkoumány standartní klasifikační metody pomocí strojového učení (ML) a deep learningu (DL), a je vybrán model, který nejlépe splňuje kritéria práce vzhledem k přesnosti extrakce tříd a klasifikace, časové náročnosti a počtu trénovacích setů použitých při vývoji modelu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the use of advanced classification methods for extracting topographic objects from maps. Specifically, it involves the use of tools for automatic classification of surfaces and subsequent transformation into vector form, which is part of an external library available on the official ArcGIS Pro website. The goal of the work is to create and teach the model to recognize intravilas, extravilas and boundaries of individual surfaces with the highest possible accuracy and then perform vectorization automatically without the need for manual intervention of the user. The work focuses on the Compulsory Imperial Imprints of the Stable Cadastre of 1842, at a scale of 1:2880, and focuses on the use of cadastral areas of intravilanes and extravilanes. The data for the creation of the deep learning model are created and populated in ArcGIS Pro. During the work, standard classification methods using machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) are investigated, and the model that best meets the criteria of the work is selected with respect to the accuracy of class extraction and classification, the time required, and the number of training sets used in model development.
