Libraries and their collections in hospitals focusing on a patient

Abstract:

Tato práce s názvem „Knihovny a jejich fond v prostředí nemocnic se zaměřením na pacienta“ se věnuje tématu nemocničních knihoven dostupné pro pacienty během jejich pobytu na lůžkovém oddělení. První část práce se věnuje teoretickým popisům současné situace v českém i zahraničním prostředí, nastiňuje roli knihoven v nemocnicích a přikládá důležitost psychoterapeutickým metodám ¨ v nemocnici. Na základě výzkumu autor v druhé části práce analyzuje stav knihoven v brněnských nemocnicích a popisuje, jak široce se nemocnice této situaci věnují, co pro ně knihovna v tomto prostředí znamená, zda se dává prostor k debatám s pacienty o četbě a o knihách a jak moc je z pohledu pacientů i lékařů důležitá existence knihoven v tomto prostředí. Na základě obou částí tato práce poukazuje na to, proč by tématu měla být věnována pozornost a popisuje možnosti, jak s ním dále pracovat.

Abstract:

This thesis titled „Libraries and their collections in hospitals focusing on a patient“ focuses on the topic of libraries available to patients during their stay in the hospital. The first part of the thesis deals with theoretical descriptions of the current situation in the Czech and foreign environment, outlines the role of libraries in hospitals and attaches importance to psychotherapeutic methods in the hospital. Based on the research, the author analyzes the state of hospital libraries in Brno and describes how widely the hospital deals with the situation. Main questions are roles of the libraries in this environment, whether there is place for debate with patients about reading books and importace of the physicians and the existence of libraries is in this environment from the point of view of patients. Based on both parts, this thesis points out why the topic should be examined and describes how to work with it further.
