Required reading for middle school as a way of collaboration between librarians and teachers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Doporučená školní četba pro 2. stupeň ZŠ jako možná spolupráce mezi knihovníky a pedagogy zkoumá doporučenou četbu a zjišťuje, zda je tato metoda stále pedagogy používaná, jak je koncipovaná a zda dochází při tvorbě seznamů doporučené četby ke spolupráci pedagogů a knihovníků. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Část teoretická se zaměřuje na základní pojmy a roli rodiny, školy a knihovny při formování čtenářství u dětí a mládeže ve věku 11–15 let. Část praktická je kvantitativně-kvalitativní sondou do problematiky doporučené četby a spolupráce škol a knihoven a je vymezena na oblast Brna. Výstupem práce pak jsou seznamy knih doporučených od pedagogů a knihovníků pro cílovou skupinu 11–15 let a seznam titulů ze statistických dat Knihovny Jiřího Mahena v Brně, která ukazují, co si děti a mládež v tomto věku reálně půjčují.

Abstract:

Thesis Recommended reading for middle school as a possibility of collaboration between librarians and teachers explores recommended reading, with the purpose of discovering to what extent is this method still used by the middle school teachers, how it’s devised, and whether or not there’s any collaboration between teachers and librarians. This thesis is divided into two sections. Theoretical part aims to define basic terminology and to establish the roles of family, school and library during early stages of readership, specifically in young adults between 11-15 years of age. Practical part is a quantity-quality probe directly into the recommended reading materials and the collaboration between schools and libraries in the city of Brno. The conclusion of the thesis is the comparison between the list of books recommended by teachers of librarians for the target group, and the list of titles actually borrowed from the Jiří Mahen library in Brno within the same target group.
