Transformation of residential social services from the perspective of stakeholders (view from the other side)

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá transformací pobytových sociálních služeb, konkrétně pak problematikou přechodu osob s mentálním postižením ze služby domovy pro osoby se zdravotním postižením, do služby chráněné bydlení. V teoretické části je nejprve objasněn pojem transformace, její historie a vlastní proces transformace. Dále se práce věnuje sociálním službám a blíže se zaměřuje na pobytové sociální služby, zejména pak na služby domovy pro osoby se zdravotním postižením a chráněné bydlení. Vysvětluje pojem mentální postižení a upozorňuje na specifickou péči o osoby s tímto postižením a na proces přechodu těchto osob do služeb s menší mírou podpory. Metodická část pak pomocí kvalitativní výzkumné strategie, techniky polostrukturovaného rozhovoru, zjišťuje, jak vnímají proces transformace pobytových sociálních služeb samotní klienti, jejich opatrovníci či rodinní příslušníci nebo pracovníci v sociálních službách a jaká pozitiva či rizika, podle jejich názoru, transformace do života klientů přináší.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a transformation of residential social services, more specifically with a transition from social institutions to assisted living residences in case of people with mental disabilities. The theoretical part first explains the term of transformation, its history and the process of transformation itself. The thesis describes various social services and focuses on residential social services, especially on homes for people with mental disorders and on assisted living residences. The term of mental disorder is described and attention is brought to the special needs in the care of these people and their transition to services with lower level of assistance. The practical part uses the techniques of qualitative research and by semi-structured interviews tries to find out how the whole process of transformation of the residential services is being perceived by the clients, their carers, family members and social assistants and what positives or risks the transformation can bring to the lives of the clients.
