Consequences of the shortage of professional medical staff in Czech republic in relation to the aging of population

Abstract:

Stejně tak jako většina států Evropy i před Českou republikou leží v budoucnosti značný problém. Čím dál více lékařů odchází do zahraničí, zejména do Rakouska a Německa. Cestují tam především za vidinou lepšího platu a prostředí, tímto však způsobují nedostatek odborného lékařského personálu v jejich domácím prostředí. Zatímco dnes to tolik poznat nelze, v blízké budoucnosti to může způsobit vážné problémy. Bude totiž přibývat obyvatel v důchodovém věku a je zde možnost, že právě pro ně nejdůležitější lékařské pozice, jako je obvodní lékař nebo zubař, zde pro ně nebude k dispozici. Cílem této práce je tak najít způsoby, jak předejít možnému nedostatku potřebných odvětví, také se práce zaměřuje na problematiku „brain drain“ a tím, jak k této otázce přistupují zahraniční země.

Abstract:

Just like the most of the Europian countries the Czech republic will soon face a severe problém. More and more doctors are migrating into foreign countries, more specifically into Austria and Germany. Most of the times they are leaving in hopes of getting either better salary or work environment, but by doing this they can cause a shortage of mdeical experts in their home country. Whileas today this problém is still insignificant, there is a risk that in near future it may destabilize the medical systém. We will be facing a sudden increase in elderly population and there is a possibility that the most important medical positions, such as general practicioner or dentist, won’t be able to provide sufficient services for them. The primary aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to find a ways how to prevent such a near-collapse of the medical system. The secondary focus is at the problematice of a brain drain in general and a thorough analysis of foreign way of preventing it.
