Burnout Syndrome in General Nurses and Dental Instruments

Abstract:

Syndrom vyhoření představuje značný problém pro profesionály ve zdravotnictví, včetně všeobecných sester a zubních instrumentářek. Tento syndrom je definován jako stav emocionálního, mentálního a fyzického vyčerpání způsobeného dlouhodobým a intenzivním stresem na pracovišti. Cílem bakalářské práce bylo zjistit množství sester, které trpí syndromem vyhoření a porovnat všeobecné sestry a zubní instrumentářky. V teoretické části práce je věnována pozornost komplexnímu přehledu syndromu vyhoření, jeho definici, krátké historii. V další části jsou popsány rizikové faktory a následky syndromu vyhoření. Následně se zabývá práce prevencí syndromu vyhoření, jeho diagnostikou a následky, které mohou mít zásadní vliv na kvalitu života postižených jedinců. Specifickou část práce tvoří popis syndromu vyhoření u zdravotnického personálu, konkrétně všeobecných sester a zubní instrumentářky. V praktické části práce byla vybrána kvantitativní metoda výzkumu. Je využit vlastní dotazník a standardizovaný dotazník Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Výsledky dotazníků jsou porovnány v rámci obou typů zdravotního personálu. V závěru práce jsou vyhodnoceny hypotézy pomocí Chí kvadrátu. Výsledky ukázaly, že většina respondentů z obou skupin má povědomí o syndromu vyhoření. Míra ohrožení vyhořením se mezi všeobecnými sestrami a zubními instrumentářkami statisticky významně nelišila. Obě skupiny vykazovaly střední úroveň vyhoření. Nejčastějšími stresory v práci byly pro obě skupiny časová tíseň, administrativní zátěž a konflikty na pracovišti. Jako nejúčinnější prevenci uváděli respondenti podporu kolegů a nadřízených, dostatek odpočinku a zájmové aktivity ve volném čase. I když se míra vyhoření mezi zkoumanými skupinami významně nelišila, je třeba věnovat prevenci syndromu vyhoření u zdravotníků velkou pozornost. Zdravotnická povolání patří k nejvíce ohroženým a důsledky vyhoření se negativně promítají do kvality péče o pacienty. Je žádoucí dále zkoumat tuto problematiku a hledat účinné preventivní strategie na úrovni jednotlivců i zdravotnických organizací.

Abstract:

Burnout is a significant problem for healthcare professionals, including general nurses and dental technicians. This syndrome is defined as a state of emotional, mental and physical exhaustion caused by prolonged and intense stress in the workplace. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to find out the number of nurses who suffer from burnout syndrome and to compare general nurses and dental instrument technicians. In the theoretical part of the work, attention is paid to a comprehensive overview of the burnout syndrome, its definition, and a short history. In the next part, the risk factors and consequences of burnout syndrome are described. Subsequently, the work deals with the prevention of burnout syndrome, its diagnosis and consequences, which can have a major impact on the quality of life of affected individuals. A specific part of the work consists of a description of the burnout syndrome in medical personnel, specifically general nurses and dental instrument technicians. In the practical part of the work, a quantitative research method was chosen. An own questionnaire and a standardized Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire are used. The results of the questionnaires are compared within both types of medical personnel. At the end of the thesis, the hypotheses are evaluated using Chi square. The results showed that the majority of respondents from both groups are aware of the burnout syndrome. The level of risk of burnout between general nurses and dental instrument technicians did not differ significantly. Both groups. The most frequent stressors at work for both groups were time pressure, administrative burden and workplace conflicts. Respondents supporting prevention and superiors, plenty of rest and hobbies in their free time were cited as the most effective. Although burnout rates did not differ significantly between the study groups, much attention should be paid to the prevention of burnout in healthcare professionals. Healthcare professions are among the most at risk, and the consequences of burnout have a negative impact on the quality of patient care. It is desirable to further investigate this issue and look for effective preventive strategies at the level of individuals and healthcare organizations.
