Political and Economic Context of the Changes in the Social Structure of the Minor Nobility in Bohemia at the Beginning of the Early Modern Period (with special regard to the Chrudim Region)

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou procesů formování drobné šlechty na přelomu pozdního středověku a počátku raného novověku v Čechách. Zatímco panský stav se v Čechách uzavřel okolo roku 1500, rytířský stav se uzavřel později. Ještě v 15. století se nižší šlechta dělila na nižší skupinu - panoše a vyšší -rytíře. V této době zároveň postačovalo, aby svobodný měšťan zakoupil svobodný majetek, čímž se mohl stát členem nižší šlechty. Pevnější pravidla se objevila až kolem poloviny 16. století. Od této doby byl muž obdarovaný erbem a přijatý na sněmu do stavu titulován jako slovutný panoše a až člen třetí generace rodu jako urozený rytíř. V 16. století došlo k vraznější proměně skupin, ze kterých se nová šlechta generovala. Zatímco v 15. století vycházeli tito jedinci především z řad válečníků a také měšťanů, v 16. století se více prosazovali intelektuálové, úředníci a měšťané. Epocha 15. a 16. století byla obdobím mnoha změn. Proměnily se dominantní skupiny, ze kterých se generovala nová šlechta a část starých drobných rodů zanikla. Vrstva panošů zmizela, skupina svobodníků se ztenčila. Mezi příslušníky starých a nových rodů navíc často docházelo ke sporům o tituly a správné oslovení.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of processes of formation the minor nobility at the turn of the Late Middle Ages and the beginning of the Early Modern Period in the Bohemia. While the lordly status closed in Bohemia arround 1500, the knightly status closed later. Yet in the 15th century was the minor nobility divided into lower group - esquires and higher - knights. Yet in the 15th century sufficed to buy free possession and a burgher became a nobleman. Fixed rules appeared around halves the 16th century. Then was a man endowed of a coat of arms addressed as the famous esquire and third generation as noble knight. In the 16th century came up to change groups from which the new nobility arose. While in the 15th century the new nobility formed primarily from warriors and also burghers, in the 16th century more intellectuals, clerks and burghers were promoted. The 15th and 16th centuries were periods of changes. Came up to change groups from which the new nobility arose and the old minor nobility disappeared. Esquires´ group disappeared and freemens´ group reduced. Between members of the old and the new nobility came to disputes of titles.
