Animal keeping at primary school

Abstract:

V teoretické části své diplomové práce „Chov živočichů na 1. stupni ZŠ“ se věnuji nejprve vztahu lidí a zvířat v obecné rovině z historického i současného hlediska, podrobněji pak také vztahu dětí a zvířat. Důležitou součástí práce je rozpracování tématu živočichové v kontextu učiva prvního stupně ZŠ. Dále následuje souhrn aspektů chovu živočicha (zahrnující teoretické popsání kladů a záporů chovu, nároků kladených na učitele, welfare zvířat a legislativu týkající se chovu živočichů na základní škole), ucelený přehled podmínek chovu a kritéria výběru vhodného živočicha. Tato témata nastíněná v teoretické části jsou využita v praxi při realizaci chovu živočicha ve škole, který je zevrubně popsán v praktické části diplomové práce. Součástí práce je také sonda do problematiky týkající se četnosti chovů na brněnských základních školách, která je taktéž popsána a zpracována v druhé polovině diplomové práce.

Abstract:

In the theoretical part of my thesis called “Animal keeping at primary school”, I focus on the relationship of humans and animals in general. This includes a historical point of view, as well as the current perspective. Then I look at the relationship of children and animals in more detail. An important part of this paper is the topic about animals in the context of the curriculum at the lower level of primary schools. It is followed by the summary of animal rearing aspects, including a theoretical description of benefits and drawbacks of animal rearing, requirements on teachers, welfare of animals and the legislation concerning the topic of animal rearing in primary schools. I then provide a comprehensive overview of the conditions for animal rearing and criterions of the right choice of an animal. Topics covered in the theoretical part have been used for a practical use at a school and the implementation is described in the practical part of the thesis. One of the elements of this paper is an insight into the matters of an animal rearing occurrence at schools in Brno which is explained in the second part of the thesis.
