Vyhodnocení sladěnosti a konvergence hospodářských cyklů zemí V4 a jejich profilace v rámci EU

Abstract:

Cílem práce je posoudit proces konvergence hospodářských cyklů zemí V4 k EU a eurozóně. Dalším cílem práce je vyhodnotit profilaci hospodářského cyklu V4 jako celku vůči EU a porovnat chování hospodářského cyklu s hospodářským cyklem USA. Teoretickým východiskem práce je teorie optimálních měnových oblastí včetně pozdější endogenní teorie optimálních měnových oblastí. Analýza sladěnosti hospodářských cyklů se opírá zejména o metody popisné statistiky jako je korelační analýza. Výsledky jsou podpořeny vyhodnocením indexů cyklické shody. Jak korelační analýza, tak hodnoty indexů cyklické shody jsou provedeny na detrendovaných hospodářských cyklech extrahovaných pomocí Hodrick-Prescott a Christiano-Fitzgerald filtrů z datových řad hrubého domácího produktu a průmyslové produkce mezi lety 1996 a 2021. Získané výsledky ukazují na pozitivní vývoj konvergenčních procesů zemí V4 k EU, přičemž nedochází ke znatelné profilaci a vymezování hospodářského cyklu V4 vůči EU.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to assess the process of convergence of business cycles of the V4 countries to the EU and the Eurozone. Another goal of this thesis is to evaluate the profile of the V4 business cycle as a whole with respect to the EU and to compare the behavior of the business cycle with the US business cycle. The theoretical starting point of the work is the theory of Optimal Currency Area including the later endogenity aspects of the theory. The synchronicity analysis of business cycles relies mainly on methods of descriptive statistics such as correlation analysis. The results are supported by the evaluation of concordance index, too. Both the correlation analysis and the concordance index techniques are performed on detrended business cycles extracted by the Hodrick-Prescott and Christiano-Fitzgerald filters from the data series of gross domestic product and industrial production between 1996 and 2021. The obtained results show a positive development of the convergence processes of the V4 countries with the EU, while there is no noticeable profiling and independence of the economic cycle of the V4 towards the EU.
