Practical use of reminiscence therapy in retirement homes

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem reminiscenční terapie a postoji, které vůči tomuto způsobu aktivizace zaujímají sociální a aktivizační pracovníci vzhledem k životní situaci seniorů v domovech pro seniory. Teoretická část práce věnuje pozornost pojmům jako stáří, stárnutí a senior, dále zahrnuje popis péče o seniory v České republice, roli vzpomínání v lidském životě a v návaznosti na to přístup reminiscenční terapie, v závěru této části práce jsou definovány postoje v jejich obecné rovině. Empirická část zahrnuje data získaná na základě kvalitativního výzkumného šetření metodou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Vedením rozhovorů byla získána data, která byla následně interpretována. Cílem této části práce bylo zjistit odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „Jaký postoj zaujímají sociální a aktivizační pracovníci k reminiscenční terapii vzhledem k životní situaci seniorů v domovech pro seniory?“. Informanti popsali své postoje k reminiscenční terapii v dimenzi kognitivní, emocionální a behaviorální a také vzhledem k dlouhodobé životní situace seniorů jako klientů v domovech pro seniory.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the topic of reminiscence therapy and stances of activation and social workers regards this way of activation seniors due to their life situation in retirement homes. Theoretical part of this thesis pays attention to concept such as old age, aging, old person. There is also possible to find description of care about old people in Czech Republic, the role of remembering in human life and also description of reminiscence therapy. On the end of this part of thesis are defined stances in general. Empirical part of the thesis contains data collected in qualitative survey using method of semi-structured interviews. Collected data from interviews were interpreted. The aim of this part of thesis was to find out the answer on the main research question: “Which stance formulate activate and social works regards reminiscence therapy due to life situation of old people in retirement homes?”. Informants identified their stances depending on cognitive, emotional and behavioural dimension of stances and regards to long-term life situation of old people as clients of retirement homes.
