Communication policies of watchdog organizations: case study Transparency International

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá komunikací v neziskovém sektoru, konkrétně ve watchdogových organizacích. Cílem této práce je vyzkoumat, jaké jsou charakteristické prvky komunikačních politik ve watchdogových organizacích. V prvních dvou kapitolách se práce nejprve zabývá základními pojmy jako neziskový sektor a marketing jako nutný základ pro další výzkum. Zabývá se také obecně komunikací v neziskovém sektoru, aby zde nalezla odlišnosti od marketingu a komunikace v sektoru komerčním. Třetí kapitola se již zabývá konkrétně komunikačními politikami ve vybraných watchdogových organizacích, ve kterých se pomocí stanovených kritérií a také informací z dotazníkového šetření snaží nalézt společné znaky. A konečně čtvrtá kapitola je případovou studií na komunikaci watchdogové organizace Transparency International, která obsahuje nejen hodnocení komunikace podle kritérií, ale i poznatky o vnímání a dostatečnosti prezentace Transparency International Česká republika získané z dotazníkového šetření, které odhalují, kde v komunikačních politikách watchdogových organizací mohou být nedostatky.

Abstract:

This thesis concerns itself with communication in not-for-profit sector, namely in watchdog organization. It's aim is to explore characteristic elements of communication policies of watchdog organizations. First two chapters of the thesis deal with key terms such as "not-for-profit sector" or importance of marketing, since explanation of these is crucial for further inquiry. The second chapter also explores general problematics of communication in not-for-profit sector to find differences from marketing and from for-profit (commercial) sector. Third chapter provides look into specific communication policies of chosen watchdog organizations and strives to find similarities under given criteria. Finally, fourth chapter is a case study on the topic of communication of Transparency International watchdog organization. It contains communications evaluation under chosen criteria, and also findings about how perceived and how sufficient TIČR's self-presentation is. These findings are revealing in regards to deficiencies of watchdog organizations' communication policies. They were obtained through questionnaire inquiry.
