The Three Tree Test in Therapeutic Communities for Substance Abuse

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá Testem tří stromů – projektivním kresebným testem, který byl původně vyvinut jako metoda rodinné diagnostiky pro děti. Předchozí výzkum naznačuje, že Test tří stromů lze využít i u dospělých a také zintenzivnit jeho projektivní možnosti pomocí strukturovaného rozhovoru nad kresbou. V této práci využívám Test tří stromů v jeho podobě obohacené o projektivní rozhovor. V první části práce uvádím teoretická východiska výzkumu, zahrnující drogovou závislost, léčbu v terapeutické komunitě a projektivní metody psychologické diagnostiky. Ve druhé, výzkumné části ověřuji možnost využití testu u dospělé populace a zaměřuji se na schopnost testu zachycovat změny v čase. Opakovaně jsem administrovala Test tří stromů klientům terapeutických komunit pro drogově závislé na začátku a na konci léčby – s odstupem osmi měsíců. Získaná data zpracovávám kvalitativně v podobě pěti kazuistik. Závěry potvrzují užitečnost této metody i u dospělých a ilustrují využití kresby spolu s rozhovorem. Dokazují také, že test reaguje citlivě na změny, ke kterým došlo u klientů během léčby ve vnímání sebe sama a svých vztahů s důležitými osobami jejich života.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with The Three Tree Test – projective drawing test originally invented as method of family relationships diagnostics for children. Previous research indicates that the test can be used within the adult population as well and that it is possible to intensify its projective potential using a structured dialogue about the drawing. This thesis focuses on the intensified version of The Three Tree Test. In first part of the thesis I present the theoretical background of research including topics of drug addiction, treatment in therapeutical communities and projective methods of diagnostics. In next part I present research study which tries to confirm the usage of The Three Test at the adult population and focuses on the ability of the test to catch up the time changes. The Three Tree Test was administrated to the clients of therapeutic comunities for substance abuse at the beginning and at the end of their treatment – after eight months interval. The data are processed in qualitative way and arranged into five case interpretations. Results support usage of this method within adult population and ilustrate that the Three Tree Test is able to catch the time changes sensitively, which occur in clients perception of themselves and their close relationships.
