Cultural cooperation of twin towns

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská práce představuje srovnávací studii fenoménu mezinárodní kulturní spolupráce partnerských měst Brna. Práce je koncipována jako srovnávací studie, jež nahlíží na spolupráci partnerských měst pohledem historie, kulturní politiky, kulturní diplomacie, marketingu i pohledem veřejné správy. Časové vymezení tématu pro diplomovou práci koresponduje s dosavadním vývojem partnerské spolupráce města Brna za posledních 20 let (1992-2012). Mezi partnerská města, která byla podrobena analýze kulturní spolupráce, patří: francouzské město Rennes; německé město Lipsko; rakouské město Vídeň; britské město Leeds a americké město Dallas. Prostřednictvím této práce jsou prezentovány strategie tvorby image kulturního Brna jakož to města a kulturních koridorů spojených s historickým odkazem multikulturní společnosti se světově významnými osobnostmi spjatými s Brnem (Leoš Janáček, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Georg Fridrich Mendel, Viktor Kaplan, Kurt Gödel, Robert Musil, Milan Kundera a mnoho dalších) a kulturně důležitými místy a objekty (vila Tugendhat, Jurkovičova vila, hrad Špilbek, brněnské podzemí a mnoho dalších). Diplomové práce poukazuje na vytváření strategie k prezentaci umění v Brně, které by se mohla nabídnout do zahraničí prostřednictvím partnerských měst Brna, a zároveň si tak vybudovat image pro budoucí spolupráci s novými partnerskými městy.

Abstract:

The focus of master thesis was aimed at description of the phenomenon international cultural cooperation of twin towns of city of Brno. The work is designed as a comparative study that looks at the cooperation partner cities view history, cultural policy, cultural diplomacy, marketing and public administration. Time of the topic for a thesis corresponds with the current development partnership the city of Brno in the last 20 years (1992-2012). The twin towns have been subjected to analysis of cultural cooperation include: the French city of Rennes, German city of Leipzig, Austrian city of Vienna, British city of Leeds and American city of Dallas. The essence of this master thesis is presents the strategy of the image as a cultural city of Brno and cultural corridors associated with the historical legacy of a multicultural society is the world's leading personalities linked with Brno (Leoš Janáček, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Friedrich Georg Mendel, Viktor Kaplan, Kurt Gödel, Robert Musil, Milan Kundera and many others) and culturally important places and houses (Villa Tugendhat, Jurkovič villa, castle Špilbek, Brno underground and many others). The aim of this master thesis is to develop a strategy to present Arts in Brno, which could be offered to foreign countries through the twin towns of Brno and at the same time to build the image for future cooperation with new twin towns.
