Motor development in children - review study

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je na základě studia primárních odborných pramenů kriticky posoudit a shrnout poznatky o vztahu mezi pohybovou aktivitou a pohybovými dovednostmi u dětí předškolního a mladšího školního věku. Dalším cílem práce je porovnat zjištěný vztah s ohledem na tyto věkové kategorie. Teoretická část práce se zabývá aspekty pohybové aktivity a pohybovými dovednostmi. Pro vytvoření přehledové studie byla použita databáze vědeckých publikací Medline Complete, prostřednictvím EBSCOhost. Bylo zařazeno celkem 17 studií. Existuje pozitivní vztah pohybové aktivity a úrovní pohybových dovedností u dětí obou věkových skupin. Velikost vztahu může závislá na věku, pohybové aktivitě, variabilitě měřené motorické dovednosti, pohlaví nebo dnu v týdnu. Byl zjištěn větší pozitivní vztah pohybové aktivity s pohybovými dovednostmi u dětí předškolního věku v porovnání s věkem mladším školním.

Abstract:

The aim of the diploma thesis is based on the study of primary professional sources to critically assess and summarize the knowledge about the relationship between physical activity and physical skills in children of preschool and early school age. Another goal of this thesis is to compare the relationship with respect to these age categories. The theoretical part deals with aspects of physical activity and motor skills. The Medline Complete scientific publication database, through EBSCOhost, was used to create the review study. A total of 17 studies were included. There is a positive relationship between physical activity and levels of physical skills in children of both ages categories. The size of the relationship may depend on age, physical activity, variability of measured motor skill, gender or day of the week. A greater relationship of physical activity with physical skills was found in preschool children compared to younger school age.
