Stressful conditions of nurse working in emergency department

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo vysvětlit pojem stres a ostatní pojmy s ním související. Vysvětlit čím se zabývá oddělení Centrálního příjmu, co obsahuje práce na něm, a jaké úskalí práce na tomto oddělení sebou přináší. Zjistit, jaké strategie zvládání stresu používají sestry pracující v nemocnicích na centrálních příjmech. Dále zjistit, jaké podněty a faktory sestrám tyto stresové situace způsobují. Metodika: K průzkumu byla zvolena kvantitativní metoda, technikou pro sběr je dotazník standardizovaný test SVF78, který byl rozšířen o 6 otázek k doplnění daných cílů práce a demografických údajů respondentů. Otázky jsou uzavřené a respondenti si vybírají odpověď z nabízených možností. Základní soubor respondentů tvoří všeobecné sestry na centrálních příjmech ve vybraných nemocnicích v Moravskoslezském kraji. Výsledky: Z průzkumu vyplynulo, že sestry při setkání se zátěžovou situací používají nejvíce strategie Kontrola reakce a Pozitivní sebeinstrukce. Nejméně sestry při setkání se zátěžovou situací používají strategii Rezignace a Sebeobviňování. Dále lze usoudit, že z celkových strategií sestry více používají pozitivní strategie. Z průzkumu dále vyplynulo, že délka praxe má vliv na volbu strategie a to tak, že všeobecné sestry s delší dobou praxe volí častěji a více pozitivní strategie. Naopak nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání nemá vliv na volbu strategie. Situace, které sestry považují za nejvíce stresující v jejich práci, jsou konflikt s pacientem a rušný provoz. Závěr: Všeobecná sestra se musí umět vypořádat se stresovou zátěží, k tomu jí jsou nápomocny strategie zvládání zátěžových situací. Sestry by se je tedy měly naučit chápat a používat. Z výsledku vyplynulo, že sestry ve většině případů používají právě pozitivní strategie zvládání zátěže.

Abstract:

Aims: The aim of this work was to explain the term stress and other terms related to it. Explain what the emergency department deals with, what it contains and what pitfalls it brings. Find out what stress management strategies are used by nurses working in hospitals in emergency department. Furthermore, to find out what stimuli and factors nurses cause these stressful situations. Methods: A quantitative method was chosen for the survey. The collection technique is a standardized SVF78 questionnaire, which was extended by 6 questions to supplement the given goals of the work and the respondents' demographic data. Questions are closed and respondents choose the answer from the offered options. The basic sample of respondents consists of general nurses on central incomes in selected hospitals in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Results: The survey showed that nurses most often use the Reaction Control and Positive Self-Instruction strategies when dealing with a stressful situation. Least nurses use the strategy of Resignation and Self-Blame when dealing with a stressful situation. In addition, nurses are more likely to use positive strategies out of the overall strategies. The survey also showed that the length of practice has an impact on the choice of strategy, so that nurses with longer periods of practice choose more and more positive strategies. Conversely, the highest level of education achieved does not affect the choice of strategy. The situations that nurses consider most stressful in their work are conflict with the patient and busy traffic. Conclusion: The general nurse must be able to cope with stress loads, which is helped by coping strategies. Therefore, nurses should learn to understand and use them. The result showed that nurses in most cases use positive coping strategies.
