Living Situation of Debtors - Clients of Citizen Advice Bureau

Abstract:

Cílem práce je porozumět životní situaci dlužníků, kteří jsou klienty dluhového poradenství v občanské poradně. Teoretická část je věnována konceptu životní situace a sociálního fungování vytvořený Bartlettovou a rozpracovaný Musilem a Navrátilem. Dále jsou popsány charakteristiky dlužníka a podpora a očekávání sociálního prostředí, které ovlivňují jeho schopnost splácet dluhy. Charakteristiky dlužníka, jimiž se práce zabývá jsou: schopnost zvládat, finanční gramotnost, rodinná situace, zaměstnání a příjmy, sociálně patologické charakteristiky, fyzické a psychické zdraví. V závěru teoretické části jsou popsány nerovnováhy v životní situaci dlužníka a je zde vysvětlena souvislost mezi omezenou schopností splácet a životními okolnostmi. Pro výzkumnou čast byla zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná strategie a techniky sběru dat narativní rozhovor a analýza dokumentů. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo šest dlužníků. Pomocí empirického výzkumu byly nalezeny odpovědi na dílčí výzkumné otázky. V analytické části jsou nastíněny výsledky šetření, jež ukazují, že životní situace dlužníků je ovlivněna rozmanitými faktory. Důležitou roli hraje výše příjmu vzhledem k očekávání a podpoře rodiny a úroveň finanční gramotnosti. Vývoj schopnosti splácet se u respondentů liší podle změn v podpoře, očekávání prostředí i schopnosti zvládat. Zjištěné poznatky posloužily jako podklad k formulaci doporučení pro praxi občanských poraden. Rozsah práce je 13 049 slov.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to investigate and to comprehend the living situation of debtors who are clients of debt counselling in citizen advice bureau. The theoretical part explains the concepts of living situation and social functioning created by Bartlett and developed by Musil and Navrátil. The theoretical part also deals with the debtor's features, support and anticipation of social surrounding, which influence debtor's ability to pay off a debt. The thesis deals with these features of a debtor: coping, financial literacy, family situation, work and earnings, pathological features, mental and physical health. Imbalances in the living situation of debter and the connection between limited ability to pay off a debt and various life circumstances are explained at the end of the theoretical part. The research was based on a qualitative research strategy - narrative interview with six debtors and document analysis. The aim of the empirical research was to find answers for the research questions. The findings are depicted in analytic part of the thesis. They indicate that the living situation of debtors is influenced by various factors. Above all, level of debtor's earnings considering on anticipation and support of debtor's family and the financial literacy level are significant. The further development of ability to pay off a debt differs according to changes in anticipation, support or coping. The findings led to the recommendation for citizen advice bureaus. The lenght of the thesis is 13 049 words.
