The social construction of intrapsychic barriers of abstinence by helping workers when working with alcohol-dependent clients

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá, jakým způsobem pomáhající pracovníci konstruují intrapsychické bariéry abstinence při práci s klienty, kteří jsou závislí na alkoholu. Tato práce je zaměřena na to, jakým způsobem pomáhající pracovníci kategorizují, idealizují a hovoří o intrapsychických bariérách abstinence. Výzkum je založený na kvalitativní výzkumné strategii, která je realizovaná formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se sociálními pracovníky a psychoterapeuty. Výsledem výzkumu je mimo jiné zjištění, že pomáhající pracovníci konstruují intrapsychické bariéry abstinence jako překážky nacházející se v psychice klienta, které mu brání v procesu abstinence či v započetí tohoto procesu. Pracovníci taktéž konstruovali podoby těchto překážek a možné způsoby práce s nimi.

Abstract:

This thesis examines how do helping workers construct intrapsychic barriers of abstinence when working with alcoholic clients. The thesis is focused on how helping workers categorize, idealize and speak about intrapsychic barriers of abstinence. The research is based on qualitative strategy, realized in the form of semi-structured interviews with social workers and psychotherapists. Result of the research is that helping workers construct intrapsychic barriers of abstinence as obstacles in the psyche of the client which prevents the process of abstinence or prevents the start of the abstinence process. Helping workers also construct forms of intrapsychic barriers and possible ways of working with them.
