History of Professional Interests in the Sound Culture of Speech

Abstract:

Tématem předkládané diplomové práce je historie odborných zájmů o zvukovou kulturu řeči. Jejím cílem je zmapovat vývoj stěžejních publikací zabývajících se českou ortoepií a především nastínit, do jaké míry se jejich vydání odrazilo v tematice časopiseckých příspěvků v periodikách Naše řeč a Slovo a slovesnost. První kapitola se zaměřuje na vymezení a charakteristiku pojmu ortoepie, dále je pozornost věnována také problematice české ortoepické normy a zásadám vedoucím k jejímu stanovení. Druhá kapitola má za cíl popsat kritéria, která vedla k výběru pramenné základny, jež je pro tuto práci stěžejní. Následující kapitoly představují jádro samotného bádání na poli historie odborných zájmů o zvukovou kulturu řeči a byly rozděleny na základě kratších časových etap, o kterých pojednávají. Kapitola číslo tři mapuje počátky zájmů o českou ortoepii ve středověku až po etapu národního obrození. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje období od konce 18. století do století 19. Pátá kapitola seznamuje s etapou vývoje zájmů o zvukovou kulturu řeči od počátku 20. století do konce druhé světové války. Poslední, šestá kapitola popisuje období od 2. poloviny 20. století do 70. let 20. století.

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis being presented is a history of professional interests in the sound culture of speech. Its goal is to explore and map the development of key publications on orthoepic topic and mainly to outline the effect that these publications had on the selection of topics in magazine contributions in Naše řeč and Slovo a slovesnost. The first chapter focuses on defining and characterisation of the term Czech orthoepy, furthermore, the focus is given to the problems of orthoepic norm and the rules that lead to its creation. The second chapter describes criteria which led to selection of sources essential for this thesis. The following chapters represent the core research in the history of professional interests in the sound culture of speech and the text is divided based on individual timelines. Chapter three describes the beginning of interests in Czech orthoepy, in the Middle Ages up to the Czech National Revival period. Chapter four deals with the timeline from the end of 18th century through 19th century. Chapter five presents the interest in the sound culture of speech from the beginning of the 20th century until the end of the Second World War and the last sixth chapter describes the timeline from the middle of the 20th century until the 1970s.
