Quality of Life in Women with Lymphedema after Gynecological and Obstetric Surgeries

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá problematikou kvality života u žien s lymfedémom dolných končatín po gynekologických a pôrodníckych operáciách. V teoretickej časti predkladanej práce je stručne opísaná problematika lymfedému zahŕňajúca podstatu tohto ochorenia, diagnostiku a liečbu. Popísali sme vybrané gynekologické a pôrodnícke operácie a ďalej sme pozornosť sústredili na problematiku kvality života u pacientov s lymfedémom. Praktickú časť bakalárskej práce sme realizovali kvalitatívnym výskumom a na zber dát bola využitá technika pološtruktúrovaného rozhovoru. Výsledky výskumu boli zaznamenané v piatich tematických kategóriách, ktoré vyplynuli z analýzy rozhovorov s participantkami a následne boli zhrnuté v odpovediach na výskumné otázky. Výstupom práce je edukačný materiál vo forme brožúry so základnými informáciami o lymfedéme, ktorý prispeje k lepšej informovanosti žien po gynekologických operáciách.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of quality of life in women with lymphedema of the lower extremities after gynecological and obstetric operations. The theoretical part of the present work briefly describes the issue of lymphedema, including the essence of the disease, diagnosis and treatment. We have described selected gynecological and obstetric surgeries and we also focused on the issue of quality of life in patients with lymphedema. The practical part of this bachelor's thesis was carried out through qualitative research and the technique of semi-structured interview was used for data collection. The results of the research were recorded in five thematic categories, which resulted from the analysis of interviews with the participants and were subsequently summarized in the answers to the research questions. The output of the work is an educational material in the form of a brochure with basic information about lymphedema, which will contribute to better information for women after gynecological surgeries.
