Competency model of a manager

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem kompetenčního modelu a jeho využití v oblasti fungování stávajících manažerů v konkrétním podniku a následného vytvoření kompetenčním modelů pro dané pozice. V teoretické části popisuje pojmy kompetence, kompetenční model, manažer, manažerské kompetence, postup tvorby kompetenčního modelu a vše související s tématem. Následující empirická část diplomové práce obsahuje analýzu kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu a následnou tvorbou kompetenčních modelů pro konkrétní pracovní pozice manažerů. Cílem této práce bylo zefektivnit manažerské fungování ve zvolené anonymní firmě ve vztahu k jejich kompetencím a kompetenčním modelům. Pozornost se konkrétně zaměřila na manažera kvality, obchodní manažery a manažera výroby. Byly odhaleny slabá místa a nedostatky v kompetencích plánování, týmové práce a organizování, přizpůsobivosti, zvládání zátěže a sebekontrole, vedení a delegování, řešení konfliktů, motivaci a částečně i ve firemní komunikaci jako celku s vlivem na komunikační kompetence manažerů. Odstranění těchto nedostatků v rámci doporučení je vhodné cestou propracovaného motivačního plánu, zlepšení komunikačních kanálů uvnitř firmy, podpora team-buildingu a další vzdělávání manažerů v souvislosti s podporou jejich kompetencí.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the topic of the competence model and its use in the field of functioning of existing managers in a particular company and the subsequent creation of competence models for the given positions. In the theoretical part it describes the concepts of competences, competence model, manager, managerial competences, the procedure of creating a competence model and everything related to the topic. The following empirical part of the thesis contains the analysis of qualitative and quantitative research and the subsequent creation of competence models for specific managerial positions. The aim of this thesis was to streamline managerial functioning in the selected anonymous firm in relation to their competencies and competency models. The focus was specifically on the quality manager, sales managers and production manager. Weaknesses and deficiencies in the competencies of planning, teamwork and organizing, adaptability, stress management and self-control, leadership and delegation, conflict resolution, motivation and partly in corporate communication as a whole with an impact on the managers' communication competencies were revealed. Remedying these deficiencies within the recommendations is advisable by way of a sophisticated motivation plan, improving communication channels within the company, promoting team-building and further training of managers in relation to promoting their competences.
