Reconciliation of work and private life in the context of promoting gender equality

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou slaďování soukromého a pracovního života a podporou genderové rovnosti. Hlavním cílem práce je zjistit, zda a jak vybrané projekty finančně podporované Evropským sociálním fondem zaměřené na slaďování soukromého a pracovního života podporují genderovou rovnost a jakou kvalitou tato podpora disponuje. K tomuto zjištění slouží kvalitativní genderová analýza dokumentů vybraných projektů, a to na základě vytvořených genderově-sociologických kritérií pro genderovou analýzu, jež jsou dílčím cílem práce. Teoretický rámec práce se skládá z kontextu společenského vzniku potřeby slaďování, vycházející především z Baumanovy modernizace a Beckovy teorie o rozdělení sfér a rolí v rámci industrializace společnosti, a z feministické interpretace slaďování, odrážející se především od teorie Stratigaki o kooptaci genderu. Teoretické ukotvení přináší také přehled možných způsobů prosazování genderové rovnosti, a to s využitím tří perspektiv od Squires. Tyto teorie dopomohly k analýze politiky EU a ESF, a především pak k genderové analýze projektů. Většina vybraných projektů pracuje s tematikou slaďování jako se zájmem žen a na základě principu diverzity se snaží o lepší uplatnění žen na trhu práce. Pouze jeden z projektů byl zhodnocen jako projekt podporující genderovou rovnost, a to na základě diverzity.

Abstract:

This bachelor´s thesis deals with reconciliation of private and work life and support of gender equality. The main goal of this thesis is to find out whether and how the selected projects, which are financially supported by the European Social Fund and aimed at the reconciliation of work and private life, support gender equality, and what quality does this support dispose of. To such findings serves the qualitative gender analysis of documents of selected projects, that is on the basis of the created gender-sociological criteria for gender analysis, which are partially the objective of this paper. The theoretical frame of the thesis consists of the context of the social needs of reconciliation, proceeding mainly from Bauman´s modernization and Beck´s theory about the division of spheres and roles in terms of the industrialization of society, and feminist interpretation of reconciliation, reflecting mainly the Stratigaki´s theory of the cooptation of gender. Theoretical attachment also brings a list of possible ways of promoting gender equality, namely with using three perspectives by Squires. These theories helped to analyse the policy of the EU and ESF and, especially, to the creation of the gender analysis of projects. Most of the projects works with the theme of reconciliation as the interest of women and from the principle of diversity is trying to improve the participation of women in the labor market. Only one project was evaluated as a project promoting gender equality based on diversity.
