Communication skills of children with mental disabilities living in care homes for people with disabilities

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku komunikačních schopností dětí s mentálním postižením žijících v celoročním pobytovém zařízení sociálních služeb. V teoretické části je definována komunikace, popsána metoda usnadňované komunikace, charakterizováno mentální postižení. Zmíněna je augmentativní a alternativní komunikace, vzdělávání dětí s mentálním postižením. Závěr teoretické části seznamuje s pojmem domov pro osoby se zdravotním postižením a zmiňuje vzdělávání pracovníků v sociálních službách. Cílem výzkumné části je analyzovat způsoby komunikace s dětmi s mentálním postižení v zařízení sociálních služeb a využívání jednotlivých komunikačních metod podporujících rozvoj vyjadřovacích schopností. Výzkum je kvalitativní, sběr probíhá prostřednictvím metody polostrukturovaných a strukturovaných rozhovorů vedených s pracovníky v sociálních službách a s logopedkou. Výzkum je doplněn o poznatky získané pozorováním.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the topic of communication skills of children with mental disabilities living in a year-round residential facility of social services. The bachelor thesis aims to analyze communication ways and individual communication methods supporting the development of expressive skills. The theoretical part describes the issue of communication, and the method of facilitated communication, further characterizing mental disabilities, augmentative and alternative communication, and education of children with mental disabilities. The conclusion of the theoretical part introduces the concept of home for people with disabilities and the education of workers in social services. The research part of this work deals with communication with mentally disabled children in social services analysis. Data collection focuses on qualitative research through semi-structured and structured interviews conducted with social workers and speech therapists. The knowledge gained from observation is supplementing the research.
