Change Process Model in helping People with Eating Disorders

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou poruch příjmu potravy a moţností, jak je léčit. Cílem práce je zjistit kompatibilitu zkušeností lidí s poruchou příjmu potravy s problémy, kterými se zabývá Model růstu Virginie Satir. Jako základní koncepty Modelu růstu byly označeny pojmy sebevědomí, kongruence, primární triáda a změna a přítomnost těchto pojmů byla následně kvalitativním výzkumem ověřována ve zkušenostech jednotlivých respondentů výzkumu. Výzkum provedený formou rozhovorů s jednotlivými respondenty přinesl následující poznatky: respondenti vnímají své sebevědomí jako sníţené, jejich jednání můţeme označit jako nekongruentní, dále vnímají silnou souvislost mezi svou poruchou a primární triádou (respektive širší rodinou) a porucha jim přináší mnoho negativně vnímaných změn. V těchto pro Model růstu základních tématech tedy existuje silná kompatibilita se zkušenostmi samotných lidí s poruchou příjmu potravy a jeví se tedy jako velice vhodné pouţít Model růstu jako formu léčby poruch příjmu potravy zejména pro odstranění psycho-sociálních důsledků poruchy.

Abstract:

My dissertation is about eating disorders and ways to treat them. The goal of this work is to find out compatibility of experience of people with eating disorders which is the concern of Change Process Model Virginie Satir. Self-confidence, congruency, primary triad and change were stated as the basic concepts of Change Process Model. The presence of these terms was consequently verified by a quality research in experience of individual respondents. The research performed in the form of interviews with respondents brought these results: respondents perceive their self-confidence as decreased, their actions can be considered uncongruous, they perceive strong relation between their disorder and primary triad (extended family) and their disorder brings them many negative changes. Therefore, there is a strong compatibility in experience of people with eating disorders in these Change Process Model basic topics. It seems to be suitable to use Change Process Model as a treatment for Eating Disorders, especially for treating psychological and social effects of these disorders.
