Importance of company culture for successful hotel management.

Abstract:

This master´s dissertation is focused on company culture in specific field. I try to demonstrate the relevance and timeliness of assigned problems for the successful management of hotel businesses, and also how this problem has an impact on assigned businesses. Relevant amount of publications, articles and researches in the field of company culture has been published nowdays, and in this dissertation I am trying to prove its importance in specific field in the hotel industry. The master´s dissertation is divided into three main parts, and each section contains individual chapters and subchapters. The theoretical part includes definitions of individual terms relating to company culture, its formation, typology and functions. In the analytical part I point out the fulfillment of the aim of the master´s dissertation especially by carrying out my own research in two hotel facilities using the questionnaire survey method and interview. This combination helped me to find out in which way the employees perceive company culture, how it is perceived by the hotel management, and as well as a better understanding of this topic. In the application section I am suggesting specific proposals in the way to have a direct and beneficial impact to the status quo.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová práca je zameraná na firemnú kultúru v špecifickom obore. Snažím sa v nej demonštrovať dôležitosť a aktuálnosť danej problematiky pre úspešné vedenie hotelových podnikov, a tiež aký má táto problematika dopad na dané podniky. V súčasnej dobe sa v oblasti firemnej kultúry publikovalo mnoho publikácii, článkov a výskumov a práve touto diplomovou prácou sa snažím dokázať jej dôležitosť v konkrétnom obore, v hotelierstve. Diplomová práca je rozčlenená do troch hlavných častí, pričom každá sekcia obsahuje ešte jednotlivé kapitoly a podkapitoly. Teoretická časť zahrňuje definície jednotlivých pojmov týkajúcich sa firemnej kultúry, jej formovania, typológie a funkcií. Analytickou časťou poukazujem na splnenie cieľa práce, a to predovšetkým vykonaným vlastným výskumom v dvoch hotelových zariadeniach metódou dotazníkového šetrenia a rozhovoru. Táto kombinácia mi pomohla zistiť, ako vnímajú firemnú kultúru zamestnanci a ako vedenie hotela, a tiež k lepšiemu porozumeniu skúmaného problému. V návrhovej časti som uviedla konkrétne návrhy tak, aby mali priamy a priaznivý dopad na zistený stav.
